Embodied Embedded Cognition

In 1997 I started to organize regular meetings for a small group of students (PhD or otherwise) interested in recent developments in cognitive science.
EEC investigates how the notions of Embodiment and Embeddedness can be of value to the science of Cognition.

In collaboration with different members of the EEC-group I have engaged in the following research projects:
robotic simulation
Joris Straatman (Master Thesis, 2006).
Johan van Kwisthout on joint attention and language evolution in a 'talking heads' context (Master Thesis, 2006, co-supervision with Ton Dijkstra).
Susan van den Braak on evolutionary robotics (Master Thesis, 2005).
Don Willems (Master Thesis, 2003)
Click here for a short paper on Don's project, published in the BNAIC 2003 proceedings.

experimentation
Iris van Rooij (Master Thesis, 1998) together with Raoul Bongers. See our paper in Cognitive Science. You may also want to check out her blog.
Linda Reus on the relation between cognitive and motoric development of children between 5 and 7 years. Master Thesis (2006).

conceptual analysis
Piet Smit (Master Thesis, 1998).
Andre de Groot. See our paper in Philosophical Psychology.

computational modeling
Jelle van Dijk (Master Thesis, 2000).
see his recent blog (in Dutch)).
Marcel van Gerven (Master Thesis, 2000).

virtual reality
Paul van Rijen, (Master Thesis, 2005, co-supervised with Ab de Haan).
