Conference: 4th International Nijmegen Speech Motor Conference
The fourth Nijmegen Speech Motor Conference will be held from June 13 till 16 2001. This conference continues the tradition established by the first three conferences in 1986, 1991 and 1996. As before the main purpose of this conference will be to bring together recent developments in research and theories in speech motor production and research in fluency disorders as well as motor speech disorders. The next conference will focus on recent models and research findings in speech production as related to neural organization of speech, speech motor control, and disorders in speech production.Special topics will be: theory and modeling of speech motor control and coordination, neurological organization and neural functioning of speech, interaction of functional neural systems for language, and speech production, functional brain imaging in speech and speech disorders, developmental issues in speech motor control, the speech motor control perspective in stuttering, research in neurogenic speech disorders, measurement of speech motor behaviors, clinical phonetics in neurological conditions, use of speech motor behaviors as outcome measures, in clinical treatment, future directions in speech motor research. The first announcement and call for papers will be available in July 2000.
